Why We Set This Up

LocalDefib.ie was set up with one simple goal: to help people find their nearest defibrillator. As a Retained Firefighter, I've seen first-hand how quickly a cardiac emergency unfolds and how an AED, reached in time, can be the difference between life and death. Too often, a defibrillator is nearby but nobody knows where it is. This site exists to change that, giving communities across Ireland a simple way to register their AEDs and a clear map to find them before there's an emergency. The more locations we have on the map, the more lives we can help save.

Our Mission

“Our mission is to raise awareness of your local defibrillator’s location before the need arises. By knowing where to find your local defib, you’ll be prepared to act quickly and access the device in an emergency. But we need your help to register all defibrillators across Ireland. Please spread the word and let everyone know to register their local defib at localdefib.ie.”

We do not own, manage, or maintain any of the AEDs listed on this website. Listings are submitted by individuals and organisations, and while we take reasonable steps to review entries, we cannot guarantee that any location is accurate, complete, or up to date. We are not responsible for inaccuracies, omissions, or for the maintenance, upkeep, or operational readiness of any AED shown here.

Responsibility for ensuring an AED is present, accessible, and in working order rests entirely with its owner or custodian.

Our aim is simply to raise awareness of AED locations so that, in an emergency, people can find the nearest device as quickly as possible at home, at work, or at leisure. In any emergency, always call 112 or 999 immediately.
